Oct. 9th, 2010 01:56 amTHIS IS HILARIOUS BECAUSE ME AND
SO UM, I'M JUST GOING TO GO VOMIT OKAY. You know that scene in X-Men where the senator dude totally dissolves into water? IT FREAKS ME OUT. Aaaaand Mr. Edlund's just like, LOL THAT, BUT WITH DISGUSTING AMOUNTS OF BLOOD. Ughghga;adkflj;lskd. And BOILS and WTF LOCUSTS EATING OUT OF THAT GUY'S HEAD, I CAN'T. Thank you, SPN, for coming back to your truly disgusting roots. Gaaaag.
Dean dreams of Dean with his shirt off. I dream of Dean with his shirt off. Thank you for your dreams, Dean.
BUT I JUST HAD TO LOL SO HARD WITH THE REST OF THE GRATUITOUS WORKING OUT AND SHIRTS BEING OFF AHAHAHAA. It was just... so obviously gratuitous. Appreciated, of course, but lol, Ben Edlund. You cheeky monkey.
That was tooootally Robert Singer in the beginning shot in the hospital before they panned to Sam and Dean, right?
LOLOLOL DEAN RACING SAM IN HIS CAR AND THEN CALLING IT A NAME. He would, because he is five.
DEAN'S PRAYER. CASTIEL SAYS "HELLO." CASTIEL HAS A SPECIAL BOND WITH DEAN OOPS DID I LET THAT SLIP. Alkjas;ldkjfas;oweijal;sdkj. Also, we can definitely rule out Moses as a suspect. HOW DID I LIVE WITHOUT CASTIEL IN MY LIFE. I also enjoy his popping in and out of everywhere like crazy, ahahah.
ALSO AHAHAH HIM DESTROYING SAM'S CAR AND THEN LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER AT IT LIKE, meh, AND BAMFING BACK INTO THE HOTEL ROOM. Ahhh frick I love it.
Aaron Birch = Moses's brother + wood type of a staff. Nice.
So! Basically Show is anvil heavy on the fact that Dean is the only voice of reason at this point in time. Cas is, interestingly, reminding me of Sam in season 1 and Sam now. Incredibly driven to find the answers they want, but they also put aside the fact in their minds that finding those answers could get people hurt or killed. This is the third time in three episodes that Dean has objected to a plan of action that would solve a problem, but get people hurt in the process (the neighbors, the baby, and now the kid.) Why? Setting up the pins to be knocked down later, of course. There is a reason they are currently depicting Sam as completely cold-hearted and apathetic. Don't you remember season two? The mystery? That John told Dean a secret in the very first episode of the season was the buildup for, finally! the big reveal halfway into the season. This is the exact same process. I cannot even tell you how much I sincerely doubt the writers would just let Sam's character go by the wayside, MEH, HE'S JUST A HEARTLESS BASTARD NOW, WHATEVS. Lol seriously? No. Boy has seeeeerious issues, and denial coming out of his eyeballs to boot. And I really think that reveal episode will be a certain episode that they showed in the "Soon" preview, which omgomgomgoaijda;gwfieojfw FLAILING FOR THE JUST A SECOND, AAAAHHH okay I'm done. SO NO, SAM, DEAN HAD ISSUES WITH HELL, AND YOU DID TOO, Mr. Seriously-In-Denial-face.
Also, I seriously thought Castiel and Balthazar were going to disco there, for a minute. Man. That would've been awesome.
UHHH I FORGOT STUFF, I KNOW IT. D: But okay, instead let me say something about the "Soon" bit which should be able to be seen by highlighting omg idk how this works: A TRUTH CURSE TROPE AAAAAAHHHHH OMFG ARE YOU SERIOUS LFKJASD;LAJDFOWAJEI LOVE. IT. Usually it's always DEAN that is cursed into being truthy, but they're probably going the different angle so we can FINALLY GET SOME ANSWERS OUT OF SAM "LOCKBOX" WINCHESTER. Also I hope they gather some ridiculousness out of Castiel too, kekekeke. AND THE TWILIGHT EPISODE, YOU GUYS, I WILL NOT EVEN. AHAHAHHF;ASLDKJS I'M SO EXCITEEEEED.
Also omg the episode Jensen directed will be airing next week while at Wincon! HOW FUN.

Date: 2010-10-09 06:14 am (UTC)UGH UGH UGH I am so with you on all the gross-out stuff. EWWW *shudder* It was like a million times worse for me though because all through that scene with the last cop where he's scratching his head and then the bugs COME OUT OF HIS HEAD made me think of an awful story my Aunt (who's a nurse in a locked psych ward) told me once about this patient who was like, a totally normal dude who had a wife and kids and shit EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT HE WAS CONVINCED THERE WERE SPIDER ROBOTS LIVING IN HIS HEAD SO HE SCRATCHED IT TO GET THEM OUT UNTIL HE LOST A WHOLE PATCH OF SKIN ON HIS SKULL D: D: D: D: D:
I'm......not exactly sure how I feel about the episode yet, but Castiel was a RIOT ("I think we can rule out Moses as a suspect" LOLOLOLOL OH MY GOD) so I definitely enjoyed that. But I couldn't even appreciate the shirtless Sam scene, because I was too distracted with raging over how the writers feel it's necessary to show how ~~wrong and ~~fucked up Sam is by making him buy a hooker. WHAT. HOW DOES THAT EVEN :|
Also, I totally missed the whole "Aaron Birch" thing. FAIL. What a waste of twelve years of Catholic school!

Date: 2010-10-09 07:06 am (UTC)Okay, re: hooker... I've thought it over, and it seems to me that Sam is now even MORE of a control freak than he was before Hell. Maybe buying hookers gives him that sense of ~power~ that he needs right now, maybe having sex without money exchanging hands feels too much like a connection/relationship, no matter how fleeting. Like, for him, sex is just a release, a purely physical act like eating or doing push-ups or taking a dump. The way he completely shut down the girl's attempts at making conversation or a later engagement? He isn't just pushing people away, he's fucking drop-kicking them down the pitch.
I didn't get why Sam would stop her from walking away without the money (like, hey, save your money c'mon), but maybe it's just Sam's way of reinforcing the idea that this isn't pleasure, this is business, that this wasn't anything more than a release and a transaction.
IDK, I KINDA LIKE IT...??? Everyone is upset that Sam's character has changed so much, but I'm excited and intrigued. I think the hooker revelation was as shocking as it was meant to be, but there's a lot of meaning behind it, too.
(OR MAYBE I AM GIVING THE WRITERS TOO MUCH CREDIT AND THINKING ABOUT THIS TOO MUCH)
[EDIT] ALSO, CAN I JUST SAY: POST-HELL!SAM DOESN'T WAX/SHAVE HIS CHEST ANYMORE. RELEVANT.

Date: 2010-10-09 07:39 am (UTC)Ahahaha, ok, so, what you're saying totally makes sense and I agree with you in a theoretical "if we were writing the show and not the SPN writing team" way. But I just....have so little faith that this is actually what they're doing, or that all this fucking awful weirdness will turn into something that isn't buttfuck dumb. Because this is like an almost identical re-tread of S4 for me right now, and aside from the fact that I fucking HATED everything they did with Sam in S4, seeing all this bullshit again is just TIRING. AS. HELL. Like, didn't we DO THIS ALREADY? You know, the whole "Sam is wrong wrong wrong and bad and fucked up but Dean is a righteous righteous man who's being hurt by Sam's awful LIIIIEEEEES!" routine?
It almost feels like the supposed "mystery" of what the hell was going on with Ruby in S4, when everyone was like, "How the hell is this the same character AT ALL?" and the writers were like "Oh silly fangirls, there's more to Ruby than meets the eye~~! You will see!" and it was all just ASDFASJDLKAJSDLKFJADSF SO DUMB.
Also, even if what you're saying here is true, I do not trust the writers to reveal these things in any way that won't be all about Dean. You know what I mean :/ It's not going to be about how Sam needs to heal and work through his issues for his OWN good, it's going to be about how he needs to be EXACTLY how DEAN feels he should be, because Dean is suddenly the authority on mental health, somehow? And despite the fact that a lot of the ways Sam is acting now are exactly the way Dean HIMSELF used to act, Dean will still condemn Sam for it without a shred of irony or any sense of his own blatant HYPOCRISY. I can see it happening like that all too clearly.
I just....idek. The writers this season have completely lost me. If they cannot even recognize their own buckets of fail with regards to the whole Dean/Lisa/Ben situation, I have so little faith that they will in any way do justice to the potential of Sam's journey.
UGH. BLAH BLAH BLAH RAGE. LONG COMMENT IS WANKY AND LONG. Sorry for ranting in your LJ,
(HOWEVER, SHIRTLESS AND SLIGHTLY HAIRY SAM IS ALWAYS RELEVANT. FACT.)

Date: 2010-10-09 11:16 am (UTC)The only single thing keeping me watching is that Sera knows Sam, or i thought she did and she wouldn't let this go on but right now I am so close to giving up it's insane.
Also i hate what she's doing with Dean. I mean I wanted him back with Sam because he wanted to not because Lisa said he should, they've just gone about it all wrong for me.
Um positive positive because Sarah is my little beacon of light and optimism and I don't want to be this big black cloud, uh glad they're back in the impala together and also that Dean finally got around to asking Sam if he was alright.

Date: 2010-10-09 06:00 pm (UTC)Heeeee, nauseatingly optimistic, remember? ;D They are together again, yay! As much as I liked the Charger, the Impala is waaaaay cooler (and saved Sam from being Lucifer's meatsuit for eternity!), sorry Sam!

Date: 2010-10-09 05:46 pm (UTC)That's barely any consolation though, I know, but I'm just really really hoping that this is just culminating and culminating and the breaking point will be reached soon-ish. Personally I still have faith that the writers have a good reason for making Sam act the way he is, mostly because Sera's a Sam girl, haha, but also because he broke through Lucifer's hold at the end of 5.22 and before anyone could do ANYTHING else, sacrificed himself completely by jumping in the hole. If you go from that to the way Sam is now, that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. There has to be a catalyst. YOU HERE ME, WRITERS. CATALYST. DO IT RIGHT.
And bb you are more than welcome to rant and rage in my LJ; I honestly don't do it much myself because I sometimes end up getting sidetracked by being flaily, oops.
SHIRTLESS SLIGHTLY HAIRY SAM THANKS YOU FOR YOUR TIME:

Date: 2010-10-09 04:54 pm (UTC)All of that really really makes me think Sam either thinks he still has a bit of Lucifer's evil in him, and he's refusing all avenues of closeness with anyone as a result, or he actually does have something inside of him that he's warring with and all of this is a front to push people away to not get anyone hurt. Buuuut like you also said, maybe we're giving the writers too much credit, lololol. Bottom line though, is that something is DEFINITELY up with him, and once we find out what, hopefully it'll be some changes.

Date: 2010-10-09 04:46 pm (UTC)Yeaaah, when the girl came out I was like, oh, Sam had a random hookup, yay, and then he pulled out the money and I was like, ...O_O. I do like

Date: 2010-10-09 03:04 pm (UTC)Wow.
I wonder if the writer's even realize by now what kind of uproar they've created. I'm just so on the fence. I agree with musical_emjay, and just PRAY they are oh so careful with Sam's journey. I too hated what they did with it during S4, and then thought the way it ended in S5 was so redemptive and full circle for him that it was perfect. However, now this. It seems they fall so easily into the trap of making him the unlikable, bad and unreasonable one. I miss S1 and 2.
But then again, I still am trusting. That promo was hopeful, so we'll see what happens. This season still has the potential to be great in my mind.
