In more serious (WHY SO) news, does anyone know if hydrocodone is an anti-inflammatory med as well as a pain reliever? I can't really find anything discerning the two online, so I don't think it is. My grandmother is having some serious back pain and wants to know if she can take the hydrocodone as well as an anti-inflammatory.

Also, since I'm at my parents' house and it's closer to the coast, we're already getting heavy bands of rain from Hurricane Gustav. I can't believe where it's headed again, it's just horrible. Not to mention Tropical Storm Hanna lookin' like it's gonna come up through south Florida, maybe. HAPPY FUN TIMES LIVING IN THE TROPICS.

Hydrocodone is not in itself an anti-inflammatory, no. It's an opiate based pain reliever. If you mix it with Tylenol, you get... Vicodin. There should be no problem with your grandmother taking both an anti-inflammatory and hydrocodone; it's commonly done.

Yay, I knew you'd be the one to help me out, hee! So Tylenol is an anti-inflammatory? How about Advil? Or does Advil pretty much have the same stuff in it as hydrocodone, therefore not really making it safe to take together?

Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil... it doesn't really matter, actually. Most any painkiller you can buy over the counter without a prescription falls into the category of NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) and can most likely be safely combined with hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is an opiate, and any opiate-based painkiller you're going to need a prescription for. Actually, Advil would probably work better than Tylenol for something muscle-related, anyway.

I've been around... lurking, I guess. I still check my flist regularly, but I haven't been posting as much. I've been busy with work and life and stuff. I can post an update soon, maybe tomorrowish, if you like. I didn't realize anyone missed me. :P
