caithreamI've had an aversion to getting a simple oil change for my car in a new city; I've heard the stories of auto mechanics going through the motions and not even changing the filter or the oil or anything. But I got a recommendation from a guy at work for this place, so I got an oil change on Thursday.
I drove home this afternoon, and just before we were getting in the car to go to the football game, my sister goes, "Dude, your car is leaking something." Pretty much my Dad pulled out the dipstick there was no oil on it at all. After we came back from the game, he got underneath and found that the gasket was coming apart, and therefore, oil leakage. I'm still at home (missing a party back at my place, sigh) and have to spend the night and tomorrow we're going to a mechanic to get a new gasket.
How the FUCK do you not see that the gasket is coming apart when you change someone's oil? Do you know how utterly SCREWED I would have been if this sudden invitation to come back home wouldn't have happened? I wouldn't have seen the leakage, my car would have run out of oil, and long story short, I wouldn't have a car and my engine would have had to be rebuilt. I am so very, VERY lucky. Seriously, how am I supposed to trust any kind of mechanic now, other than the family friend that my parents go to? Akjfdalksd RAGE ANGER ANGER.
On the plus side, my dad and I had some father-daughter autoshop bonding time. I feel super dumb not knowing what anything is or does under the hood, so I think I'm a little better off than I was before, ha.
ANYWAY, the game was AWESOME, despite the fact that the Bucs lost, boo. All the chips, dip, beer, roast beef, homemade three cheese macaroni, and asparagus I could eat too, haha. Omg I can't believe it's football season again, so awesommmee.
My mom texted me this morning before I left, saying something along the lines of, "Have you heard of a band called Stone Roses? Listen to their song Fools Gold!" And I was all, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BAND BEFORE, CONGRATULATIONS, YOU WIN. My mom is so awesome, you guys. But wow, THEY ARE SO FANTASTIC. I downloaded their self-titled before I left, which SAID it had Fools Gold on there, but it DIDN'T. So if anyone has that song and could upload it for me? I would love you FOREVER.
