This makes me SO HAPPY OMG. I could care less about every other celebrity couple out there. I loooooove them, though. ♥

On the other end of the spectrum,

From mugglenet:

The Mail on Sunday yesterday criticised JK Rowling's recent article about our skinny-obsessed world and how magazines glorify being thin. The headline of the controversial article reads: "If you loathe the 'skinny obsessed' world so much, JK, why did you make evil Dudley Dursley so FAT?" That sentence sums up the entire article's point: Almost every hero or heroine in the books is thin - with the exception of Molly Weasley who, the article says, is "plump" in a maternal way - and "young girls' preoccupation with being slim will only change when they have plump or fat role models. And no one is better placed to effect that change than the most powerful woman in publishing today - JK Rowling."

Since Jo published the fascinating article, entitled "For Girls Only, Probably...," on her official site, it was readily covered by global media outlets, receiving mixed but mostly positive feedback.

However, The Mail's article is rather inaccurate in parts. For example, it calls Hermione "ravishing and trim," but I have never seen Hermione described as such in the books (except in The Yule Ball), and in general we could say that Hermione isn't too attractive (with her bushy hair and long front teeth), possibly making her a role model for similar girls. I believe The Mail uses the above description simply to suit its argument. Also, the newspaper fails to mention Snape and Malfoy, who are both described as thin and are both evil characters in the books. Check out some scans of the article below, courtesy of reader Marie:

You have GOT to be freaking kidding me. I think it was admirable to the extreme what Jo said. I'm so sick of girls who look like they need to be force-fed a freaking sandwhich being the "in thing." This isn't even a matter of it being an editorial; it's a bash-party. I'm almost positive that the writers wrote this based purely on the movies and not the books themselves. And because I'm writing a paper and trying to avoid it at all costs (GO ME), I'll attempt a rebuttle... which will probably dawdle off at the end, BUT, OKAY.

"The fat boy is of course Dudley. The slim and attractive boy is Harry."

WRONG. The only mention ever that Harry was ever "attractive" is in the most recent Half-Blood Prince. Somewhere towards the beginning, I believe, I can't remember the exact part. In especially the early books, he was always described as "scrawny" and Mrs. Weasley even saw him as downright emaciated. There's a huge difference there.

"Dudley, fat and slow. Harry, deceptively fast. Presumably because he is slim. Why else?"

Oh my god, your logic is astounding. I've got blonde hair, so presumably I should be able to speak Dutch. OR, it could just be that my ancestors hailed from Holland, so that's the way I look. AND, it could be that James was freakishly skinny, so Harry inherited that aspect. Plus, he's a bloody Seeker; Seekers have fast reflexes. Otherwise he wouldn't be one, or he'd just, you know, be Draco.

And when was the last time you ran away from a fat person? They don't exactly move very fast. Unless they have a Rascal. Then I may have to consent.

"However, by any normal yardstick, she [Hermione] is pretty. Which is why the pretty, slim - and talented - Emma Watson was chosen to play her in the films."

HUH. Never, anywhere in the books is Hermione's physical description given, save her bushy hair and buck teeth. Somehow those don't strike me - and you'll have to excuse my superficiality - as particularly pretty. She could be chubby, squat girl, for all we know.

And do you know why Emma, gloriously skinny and small, was chosen to play Hermione? Because anything different and people, fans included, would be in an uproar. Fat! How dare you! That's not what we want to see on the screen! This is Hollywood! This is Emaciated Botox Town! You're trapped between a rock and a hard place.

It goes on to explain other skinny characters, such as Ginny, Fleur, James, and Lily are, of course, living proof of Jo's hypocrasy. This entry I praise with great praise, as I can't find any better words to describe the absolutely ludicrous shit these people are trying to pull. Honestly. It's like they're trying to discredit her in every way shape or form just because she's the one who earns the big bucks or something stupid like that. And then the Fandom Retards blow it completely out of proportion. Ugh.

Omg I'm tired of writing papersssss.

Sarah, I wouldn't get too upset about it if I were you. If I got my knickers in a twist every time The Daily Mail or Mail on Sunday wrote something I disagreed with - well, lets just say I wouldn't be very comfortable. This disgraceful rag isn't worth your energy. It's glorified tabloid trash masquerading as a 'quality' newspaper.
