Does anyone ever realise of fecking precious life is?

Or does it hit you during your last seconds of ever breathing, seeing, feeling, being?

Today my dad was working on our porch and he had to run out for supplies. When he came back, he told us that he had just witnessed firsthand, about 100 feet away from him, a truck swerving into opposite traffic and absolutely pummeling into a car. My dad doesn't get phased pretty easily and when he came back he was really shaken up. It happened just right outside our subdivision.

My mom and I took a walk just a bit ago and saw the wreckage. Not to be morbid or anything, but just to see the utter reality of it all. The car was totally smashed up with the roof and driver side door gone. The truck was a bit better off.

It is unreal to me, to just think about that family member, that friend, that lover, who was just driving innocently down the road and within a second is suddenly a statistic, a cause for pity and concern, only made "famous" on the news by his or her death or critical injury.

Yes, I've also heard all that before and it goes in one ear and out the other with no meditation. But it was right there outside my subdivion; neverending sirens and umpteen dozen helicopters right along with.

I am not sentimental. I am fecking human.

And good Lord, sweet mother, Jesus Christ in heaven, I'm glad I have You.

If I could be Ellie Arroway I'd just. love. it. Contact is... gah. It's so breathtaking in that I love astronomy so so much. I couldn't think of anything better. Well... maybe a few things...

I know how you feel. The other say I was in the car with my mum and as the car right in front of us went through an intersection another car went through a red light an SMASHED right into it and sent it into a light post. THE CAR RIGHT IN FRONT OF US! It was really scary...

Eeek. How horrible. Fortunately, I've never witnessed one.

I've seen car crashes, things blown up, houses in flames @.@. Once, I was crossing the street with some friends and a car passed the red light right in front of us. It hit another car so quickly I didn't even see HOW but it got the other car's license plate stuck on the wheel. Like wtf?? After a while you learn to just let things go I guess...

Oh, geez, how scary. Houses on fire are freaky too.

After a while you learn to just let things go I guess...

Mm. Yes.

Hmm. Car crashes. I've been lucky in getting out of two without any injuries. One was when I was small, so I don't really remember it, but the other someone just plowed into the side of me and bent the driver's door (my door) in on itself so it wouldn't open anymore. They're terrifying.

In terms of life revelations, it hits me occasionally. How lucky I am to be alive and healthy. Mind-boggling.
