Well, let's get to it, then.
It was very good. It was VERY good. I've only been around twice for the book releases, but it still surprises me how cheeky JKR's writing is. Or maybe that's still just a British thing. HAHA. UM. But I laughed an awful lot while reading it. Like the twin's exclamation after the Polyjuice, "Wow, we're identical!" and even after George lost his ear, "Holey. Get it, Fred?" JUST. The twins especially have always been my favorite characters, and when Fred died... oh. That hurt. :(
Okay... for some UTTERLY weird reason, when it was talking about the albino peacock at the Malfoy manor at the beginning and near the end, I thought, ahaha, it was Lucius or something. Like his patronus! Or, I dunno, he's an animangus! Because of his hair, you know, and then SUPER DUH, his animangus would so be something as superficially-focused as a peacock. I DON'T KNOW.
Really, I started crying for reals when Remus and Tonks died, but only, I think, because they had had a baby. (That, too, was one of those times that I literally flailed and physically said, "JAG;A4GOIUAKLDJajgwa;oij!!1" No lie.) And then I started up again during "The Forest Again," because guys, I've said it before and I'll say it again, ANYTHING with family-angst just really tears me apart. "You'll stay with me?" "Until the very end." Ah;o2i3hq;ohg;owiejaslkdfj aaaaahhhh. :(((((
I think I focus on a LOT of different things than most other people who read the books. Like, I'm not an overtly huge Snape fan, so the whole bit with in the pensieve and his death made me kind of smile sadly and move on. I love ANYTHING and everything to do with James and Lily, and even the mauraders, and just, I dunno! I don't neccessarily get my panties in twist if this and this happen, or whatever, I just kind of accept it and move on.
But the Ron and Hermione kiss! AAAAAHHH I MADE STUPID LOUD NOISES!! And it was just because, just because Ron mention the house elves that send Hermione over the edge, and really, that just makes me laugh so hard. EEEE!!
My heart was utterly pounding during the "Battle of Hogwarts" and "The Flaw in the Plan." UGH, JKR. How are you so utterly BRILLIANT? Absolutely amazing.
I KNEW Harry was a Horcrux, I KNEW IT.
Ron was seriously amazing. So much so. And NEVILLE!!!!! HAVE MY CHILDREN, PLEASE.
PERCY!!! UGH I WAS SO RELIEVED EVEN THOUGH HE WAS A HUGE DICK THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME IN THE OTHER BOOKS. :((((
The hiding in the woods stuff was a bit long and drawn out and monotonous, hm. But maybe that's just because I was like, I WANT ANSWERS, I WANT ANSWERSSSSS.
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" A;LGIJAWOIJA;SLDKJFA;LFJ SO MUCH WIN, MOLLY WEASLEY. AJSDFLK;ASDFKLJAS;LDFJ.
Speaking of answers, we did not learn why Harry has his mother's eyes was so significant, other than than Snape wanted to see "Lily's eyes" one last time before he died, D'AW. Nor did we learn a secret about Petunia. Uhhh, there were other things that I was DYING TO KNOW, but I can't remember right now omg.
So, yeah, the epilogue. I'm really kinda... meh about it. I can't put my finger on it, really, just everything except the very very last part just didn't do it for me. Except, you know, OBHWF, and I really, you know, expected Teddy Lupin to be a Very Angry Child, but no, he just likes to think with his downstairs brain, apparently.
Ah man. I seriously can't believe it's over. All things culminated and led to this point. And when we're older with our own children, it's just going to be so WEIRD to say, "You're damn right I read those books, and waited for 'em with more impatience than a kid at Christmas." Seriously amazing. JKR, I owe my first born, and then some.
Hollywood, seriously, DO NOT EFF UP THIS BOOK. Just. DON'T. *Crosses fingers??*
I finished it up at around 12:30 last night and then had to be at work at 7:30 this morning, so that plus days previous of going to bed late and waking up early has made me SUPER EXHAUSTED. Ugh. I don't feel like doing anything.
And omg, things that make me STUPIDLY HAPPY, this fan report of the boys. ;LKJA;DLIAJSDF;LAIWEJA;!!1 Jensen waxing poetic about the Harry Potter phenomenon! JENSEN YOU NERD. And JARED being JARED and ugh, YOU GUYS, I love them so much. And guess what. GUESSWHATGUESSWHAT. I'll be seeing them in, OH, five days time, or so. WHAAAAAAAT.
Last night, just as I was falling asleep, I had the BESTEST IDEA EVER for an SPN fic. Sam and Dean are going to hate me, totally, but I am rubbing my hands together gleefully, HA HA.
And happy birthday to my lovely lovely
aerinbrooke!! Hope your day was absolutely WONDERFUL, sweets! ♥!

Date: 2007-07-23 08:49 pm (UTC)That fan report is my new favorite thing ever. I cannot express in mere words how much I love them. aljd aljdaskl jdals;kjda
Speaking of OMG SATURDAY. Has it been all figured out how we're getting to
Also, do you think we should exchange cell phone numbers? Just in case something happens, like flights get delayed or something? It'd be easier to find each other once you get to the airport. Just a thought. :D
EEEE! CAN'T WAIT!!!

Date: 2007-07-23 09:09 pm (UTC)EEEE CONNN!! I haven't talked to her, but it's DEFINITELY on my to-do list very soon, haha. I was thinking, since I think she lives at the San Diego university and that isn't very far from the airport, we could maybe just take a taxi? Or a bus, or something? I'm sure there are university-to-airport bus service dealios going on, but I'll ask her just to make sure.
I definitely think we should! Mine's 727-452-8463. Also, uuuhhh. I finally talked to my parents about all this, whom I'm going with and staying with and etc., and of course they are being worried out the wazoo, so, um. They kind of would like to know your parents' names and home phone number, ONLY in the case that something happens and they have no way to contact us or whatever. So, um, yeah. *Embarassedness*
BUT OMG FOUR MORE DAYS A;LSKDJA;LDKJFAL;SJFSALJD!!!!

Date: 2007-07-24 02:01 am (UTC)Taxi or bus would be great! I was more worried about how far away it was than anything. Quite relieved it's so close. Does that mean we're heading to her place first, instead of heading straight to the Con like we were gong to before? I guess since she's so close, it'd make sense. Actually, I read somewhere that a bus fare from the airport to downtown is only $2.50, but there's a Transportation Hub thing at the airport so we can deal with it then.
Don't be embarassed! It's actually a smart idea. My parents' names are Robert and Kelley Emmers, and my home phone to reach them is 507-357-4213. My cell phone number is 612-481-3769.

Date: 2007-07-24 03:33 am (UTC)Oh! And I figured it might be easier to at least drop our stuff off at her place and then head over to the Con, but I have no problem going directly to the Con, heh, and it would be cheaper too. As long as we can find somewhere to stick the damn luggage! I need a bag like Hermione's. :(((
Hee, thanks! My parents are Jack and Debbie Howell, home phone of 727-733-9098, in case that lessens your parents fears as well, ahaha. We shall prove them wrong, that not all people you meet on the intarwebs are psychos!! WELL. It may come to that, for me, as we're filing inside for the Q&A of Supernatural, BUT UM. All the other times I'm generally quite sane. :D!!
OMG TIME WHY ARE YOU GOING SO SLOOOOWWW. Alkajsdfl;akjsdlfj!!!

Date: 2007-07-24 04:42 am (UTC)Speaking of paying for room & board, did you get your money back from the hostel? Or even hear anything from them? I still can't believe that happened.
Yep, the bus seems to be super cheap, although the site doesn't say anything about going up to La Jolla. But, yeah, we'll ask when we get there. I figured it'd be easier to go straight to the Con from the airport, not just because it's cheaper, but we'd probably want to get in line for Gaiman pretty quick. I hear he's gonna be super popular. Which reminds me. When does your plane come in? Was it 11:00? Sorry, I should really be writing this stuff down. LOL
Do you mind me asking how much money you're bringing or planning to spend? I'm not sure that what I'm thinking of bringing is too much or not enough.

Date: 2007-07-24 04:52 am (UTC)OMG. SATURDAY BADGES ARE NOW SOLD OUT!!! wkj akljd asldaa So glad we got them early! Still have to buy my Friday one.

Date: 2007-07-24 05:28 am (UTC)My plane comes in at 10:18, barring any delays or anything, ACK. As far as money... heh. I'm hoping to stretch it to its limit, really, but I was thinking $150, maybe? I'll have to ask my parents what they think is best, since they know more Adult Stuff like this than I do, haha.
AGH, LOCKERS!! Damn. Hm... I'm guessing we'll probably have to do that, sigh. Well, again, we can ask someone at the airport if they have any suggestions, if anything. But, hm, you're not even bringing a smallish suitcase? All in a backpack? Haha maybe I could do this. MAYBE. Though I have to ask Mina if we need to bring like, sheets or anything. I don't know the sleeping accomodations or anything just yet.
OMG I KNOW!! Alkajsd;lfajsd. Yeah, I was going to ask if you had bought one yet! I haven't yet either, so. Do you still need me to get it for you, or do you think you'll have the money by then?
Also also! I want to make sure, but Mina said she'd most likely want a badge for Sunday! I wonder how to go about buying it, HMM. I could just get it and then we could split it like, $7.50, AHAHA.

Date: 2007-07-24 05:44 am (UTC)I don't even own a smallish suitcase. My parents' are all huge. I figured a large-ish backpack would be enough. I didn't even think of sheets/blankets, though! I don't think a those would fit in it. (Though I'm planning on bringing a little pillow for the airport.) Hmm...I was hoping to get away with just a carry-on, so I didn't have to worry about lost luggage or baggage claim. (Again with the paranoia!) And I also thought I'd have to carry it around everywhere.
I can get my own Friday badge now, thanks! So either one of us can get her badge, it's up to you. :D

Date: 2007-07-24 04:20 pm (UTC)Oh yeah, I was definitely going to do carry-on, because just the idea of the airline losing luggage, especially with all those stops freaks me out. And she said that sheets or whatever would be okay, but sleeping bags would probably be better, so here's what I think I'm going to do. I've got a rolly suitcase that's small enough to use as carry-on, so I'll bring two sleeping bags (my dad used to go camping a ton, so we've got plenty, ha) with me so that way you won't have to worry about bringing a bigger bag to put that stuff in when I can do it no problem. And yeah, definitely a pillow too, hee. SORRY, I'm just one of those people who likes to plan things down to the letter, heh!
Awesome! Okay, I'll go ahead and get my Friday one now, and her's as well! Good Lord, I can't believe we'll be seeing each other in THREE DAYS!!!
