Jul. 3rd, 2006 07:58 pmWell... not so much a saga. But a nice headache.
Let me start by saying that I wasn't too enthusiastic about this job anyway. Mapquest listed it as 9 miles (15 minutes) away from my house down south, down US 19, which is such a crap drive because of all the construction, and it's very out of the way of coming from USF to home. So, $10 or not (which I was skeptical about anyway), I was kinda hoping it didn't work out.
Mapquest officially gets my thumbs down. I ended up being half an hour late because the directions they gave were definitely not how to get to the place. Twenty minutes in, with me frantically driving around, the lady from the staffing agency called, asking what was up. I told her I was lost, she gave me the number of the person I was suppose to be having the interview with. I tried to program it into my phone, failed, had to pull over, call her back and get the number, but she put me through to the interviewer. I found the place no problem after that.
So I get in, get a security badge (???), fill out an application (??!) and ten minutes later, I'm with the interviewer.
It goes like this:
Her: So, it's a bit of a drive from your house to here, right?
Me: Yeah... but that's okay, I guess. It'll be a little more of a hassel when I'm driving from USF to here, though.
Her: Oh... are you taking night courses, or something?
Me: No, I've scheduled my classes so they're around 11am to 3pm.
Her: Uhm... okay... *shuffles papers* Er... Well, I really don't know why they sent you, then.
Me: ...?
Her: This is for a full time position.
Me: Seriously? I was told it was part time!
And so it went. She said this is the third time the staffing agency has put part time people in a full time interview, heh. There was no real reason to finish the interview, so we just parted ways.
So then I sat in my car and laughed my face off. It was just so perfect! I didn't feel bad about turning down a job, ahaha.
I see I have an email from the staffing agency lady, which I really don't want to look at, because it's probably some big apology letter or something. I didn't want to work from a staffing agency in the first place, so hopefully this thing will just peter off. The clerical/administrative part of Sears at a mall right near us is hiring part time, so I scheduled an interview with them next Thursday, the day I get back from Chicago. That would be REALLY awesome. Geh.
Oh man, I watched 1X10 of Supernatural today. AAAH. That one has been, by far, the creepiest one. There is something about insane asylums from the 1800's and early 1900's that give me such intense morbid curiosity, but freaks me out beyond all measure. Gaghghalskdjfs. The stretchers, electroshock therapy, scrawly patient journals, and laudanum.... Such as this. Fascinating.
PS: I pimp

Date: 2006-07-04 06:28 am (UTC)I know exactly how you felt with the frantic driving, because I have absolutely no sense of direction, and even with proper directions I can't count the number of times I used to get lost driving around the city, ending up on the south side of town and having a mini breakdown crying my eyes out in the car before I could get it together and drive back home. And you should see Brisbane, it's tiny. *sigh*
I went to see Superman on the weekend, expecting it to be crap, and found Brandon Routh very pretty. *hides*
