Things I really liked:

- Kelsey Grammar = SERIOUSLY AWESOME?!?!11 He was pretty freaking great.
- Ben Foster too. Wings! Srsly.
- Hugh Jackman's muscles. Uhhhhha;skmdfngvuaio;wjmlakesgansjdl. Yes please.
- "I'M THE JUGGERNAUGHT, BITCH." AHAHHA;SDHAHHAHA;LSKDJFA;LKSNDMAS. SERIOUSLY. GREATEST. EVER. I totally did not see that coming, and I was laughing so hard I had tears, man. Oh. Fantastic.
- The opening sequence. Logan trying to light his cigar ahahaha!

Things that made me give a serious "WTF?":

- Rogue, Magneto, and Mystique all loosing their powers?! Wha...? That's... that's them! Their defining character! That was just way too weird for me. And I never even read the comic books/new about the characters/was obsessed.
- PEOPLE DYING?!?! Jimmy, the expert at most things Marvel, turned to me at the end of the movie and said, "Yeah, um... no one ever died, and that was really stupid." Like... why couldn't Logan have given Jean Gray the cure, or something? Killing her? Srsly? I was pretty shocked.
- It moved way too fast. Like, you know how in X2 when everyone went to Bobby's house? And people like, sat down and discussed things? And showed more character? Yeah, kinda missed that.
- Bobby/Kitty Pryde wtf? I really liked Kitty but... quite suddenly he doesn't pay any more attention to Rogue.

I don't know. I liked it and I didn't. I'm a little disappointed, mostly. I really wish the same director would have directed it, but man, Superman looks like it's going to kick some major arse, so, who knows. I really do love the whole X-Men world and the characters and whatnot, but this just seemed a bit out of left field. I think I'll just stick with X2, maybe.

Erin and I went to the beach today to get down to some serious tanning business... aaaand ended up frying ourselves, pretty much. My shoulders feel like they're suddenly going to combust, and even the back of my hands are sunburnt. Gah. *Bathes in aloe*

Jimmy is right to WTF the movie (and you too, honey). As for me, I rarely get to go to the theater, and I had been working way to hard recently to be inspecting the inner workings of the movie, and I've just recently finished writing a mediocre action script myself which I want NO ONE to pick apart, so I sat back with my family and my popcorn and enjoyed the comic relief and special effects, heh. But that's just me.

The hardcore fans will have tons to complain about, I'm sure, but I was just glad to get out of the house and be entertained for a change. Call me crazy.

*goes with you to see Superman, but possibly not Posieden because I have a God-awful fear of suffocation and I just might SCREAM during the movie ... like a lot*

Did anyone else besides me notice that Kitty Pryde could not close her mouth. Every shot, even when she's thinking/worried/happy, there's that jaw drop.

Yeah, I was left with the "WTF" feeling, too. Though the last scene did give me a little bit of hope that the 'cure' isn't permanent, after all. Which does make sense from a medical standpoint - all "chronic" conditions are treated, not cured, meaning you have to keep taking whatever it is that is curing your disease.

Its going to be a little awkward for Rogue when her powers come back.

And yeah, TOTALLY floored by all the death. Kind of blinked, like "no, that's not possible. Professor X can't be DEAD." Or Scott. Or Jean, really. It was kinda like they just took canon, crumpled it up in a little ball, stuffed it in a blender and hit "frappe."

This is going to be the movie that fans of the comics and the universe will insist doesn't really exsist.

why must all my brain power belong to Marvel?

Ahh, not entirely true with the canon issue. Jean has seriously died so many times that I can't even count. The nature of Phoenix is that it keeps coming back. And I'm still not entirely sure she killed Scott...
At least, I like to hope not. Maybe she like absorbed him or something weird.
And Xavier died in Age of Apocalypse, too. But I think the Shi'ar bring him back to life. If only on thier planet.
*geeks!out*

As far as "the cure" goes, it was spawned from Leech's powers, and Leech only has the ability to stop powers while he's near the person. That said, when the serum left the person's body entirely, they would be back to normal.
In canon, none of the many "cures" for mutation have ever lasted.
They just inject Wolverine, and then his healing factor makes anti-bodies for it. :D

The thing about these movies is that they're just another AU. As a fan of the comics and Marvel-verse, I actually appreciate these before some of the alternate comic arcs. Especially some of the newer stuff. But yeah, a frillion deaths was a bit much.
I need to watch it again so I can actually stay for the part after the credits!!!

Yeah, I get that the Phoenix will keep coming back... but they like kicked that whole storyline into super-uber-ultraspeed mode, since in the comics Jean returned to being herself for quite awhile before the Phoenix emerged. And Professor X's death wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if it hadn't been Jean that killed him. Or Scott. Yes, I think she did kill him as well, at least for the movie.

And you just said exactly why the "cure" can't be permanent - not because the serum itself become ineffective, but because it doesn't stay in the body forever.

I don't claim to be an expert on the Marvelverse or anything of the sort. But I am a writer, so inconsistencies in characters really bothers me.

Oh, believe me, me too. For some reason, I always end up falling in love with movies that everyone else dislikes for whatever reason. I really loved this one too (explosions! muscles! SUPREME ONE-ON-ONE MUTANT ACTION!), but maybe it was because I was with someone who knows the storyline pretty well to call the BS.... But, as I am usually not so much of a nit-picker, I will definitely be seeing it again. :D

Omg I've always wanted to know: how do they do movies in other countries that are produced in English? Do they dubb the speech, or just give subtitles? I still have no idea why I don't know this yet, and I haven't yet gone to another country to find out for myself. :(

Yeah, they dub the movies in every country, but if you're in an "International" city, like Frankfurt (thank my lucky stars) then you can usually find a cinema that plays them in their original language. We normally go to the "English Language" features, but every now and then we'll go to German ones. I saw Finding Nemo and Robots in German before I saw them in English. But X-Men 3 I saw in English, and it's just so much better that way!!!

They do do the subtitle thing once in a while, like if it's a musical and they don't change the english in the songs.

Hey you...

I agree totally on all your points. I was dissapointed. I was expecting something totally out of this world, and it was just mediocre. Was it just me or did the movie seem short? I mean, it wasn't, but I think how you mentioned that it moved so fast was a part of it.

Not sure if you saw, but after all the credits they had another scene. Kinda pivitol. Remember in the beginning the video Xavier was showing to the kids in class about how someone can transfer their telekinetic energy into another person? And that guy was lying in the hospital bed? Well at the end, you see that guy, and the nurse beside him, and you hear Charles voice through him saying "Hello Moria" (the nurse's name), and her looking all shocked. So.... Xavier's not dead?

Do you know if they're making a fourth, or is this it?

Yeah, we stayed after the credits, and after talking around, I'm more inclined to believe the serum works for a set amount of time and then starts to dissolve, or something. In short, Rogue is up for a major disappointment, ahaha!

Oh man, I don't know much about the X-Men world, but Xavier being not dead... I could see that working. If they are making a fourth I soooo hoooope that everyone signs on again! :D
