I am thisclose to seriously consider doing a double major, but then another thought slipped in my head.

Is it possible to do a double minor? Or is that just completely ridiculous, how the heck are you even in college and not have known that?

Because I reeeeaally want to major in creative writing and minor in American/Brit Lit and history.


If not, I may just release my inner masochist and go for the double major creative writing/lit. Hum.

(Or should it be the other way around? Lit as the major, CW as the minor? Which is harder? Which will get me farther in life? Will it even matter? WHY DOES NO ONE WRITE A MANUAL ABOUT THIS?)

Some of my friends suggested to me that I double minor, since I'm having a hard time choosing between linguistics and anthropology, so I guess it's possible. I don't see why it wouldn't be. I hope it is, anyway, 'cause I don't think I can choose between those two.

Dude, I should be your role model. :P I'm majoring in both Creative Writing and Literature, and have two minors as well, Media Arts and German. Have you looked up the requirements for majors and minors and how much more work it is for each? With my school, I only needed three more classes to get both the CW and Lit options, so it was an easy choice, but I'm sure every school is different. I have no idea if it'll get you any further in your future career, ask me again in two years.

Ahaha, how crazy! Isn't that a ton of work, though? Well, yeah, mine's kinda different, I think. Here's our requirements, if you're interested. There's a loooot less classes to take for Creative Writing majors. Five compared to twelve for Lit. Good Lord! That's a lot. I don't know if I can critique and analyze writers that much. My brains will be oozing.

I really don't like making decisions. Man.

It's work, yeah, but I enjoyed most of it. And actually, it looks quite a bit like the requirements for the U of M, and if you look closely at the requirements for the Creative Writing option again, you have to take at least seven literature courses in addition to the five writing courses, which means you need 12 for either option and 17 for both. It works basically the same way at my school, I think, and I decided the five extra classes were worth my time.

I do not see why you could not double minor. Unless your college decides be totally stupid and not let people do that. O.o;; I mean if you can double major why couldn't you double minor?

Anyway, you have figure out what you would want to do for a job more and with what major. Or how you will combine the two to create the perfect situation.
