I call it the Blue Steel School Photo.
Today two friends and myself went to Tampa to experience the Taco Bus and it was so gooood. I had two tostadas with carne asada. Next time I want to try the chicharron. Nommm.
We also went to Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry and omggg I haven't been there since I was a KID and I was pretty excited. It's kind of a like a hands-on Bill-Nye-the-Science-Guy fun science exploration museum. Some of it was exactly like I remember but a lot of it's changed, per your usual experience when visiting something from childhood. They also have the only domed Imax theater in Florida which is SOOO COOOOOL and they're still showing Inception there and I REALLY REALLY might have to go do that. UNGH.
Odd state of affairs in my household, as my mom was offered early retirement. REALLY early. Like, on October 1st. They're basically GIVING her a huge chunk of money to leave, plus her 401(k), plus her benefits. She's double and triple checked that this is the right thing to do, and everything's pointing to yes. She's been with the company for almost 30 years, and is pretty much the most selfless person I know. If anyone deserves it, it's my mom. My dad is also retired (and was hired somewhere else and then laid off) so BOTH my parents will be around the house a lot more. Jflaskdfjasdj I love them but I might go a little bit crazy. I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED.

Date: 2010-09-19 02:07 am (UTC)Cool early retirement for your mom :) Sidebar, and I don't know ANYTHING about this, but I just remember a woman I volunteered with last year retired early or something like that and ended up having a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE tax burden...I don't know why, but I was left with the impression it had something to do with her early retirement. Just throwing this out there just in case. :)
