SINCE we are only 18 days out from going to Seattle/Vancouver (!!!!), we should probably get on this whole plan-making thing.
SO, OKAY. Chrissy and I have mostly talked about this, and I think both her and Lauren have talked about this, and Kate's just dreaming about FOOD, haha, so if anyone has any problems with this, let me know! This is purely tentative, so, you know. WHATEVS.
Wednesday: I get in at 6pm, Chrissy at 10pm, Kate at whenever she pulls up into the driveway. Flailing ensues! YAY.
Thursday: Seattle tourist day! I GUESS. Chrissy and I still can't figure out what to do. We could always go to Pike's again, or we could take a ferry to one of the outer islands and so something there (I hear there's a lot to do), or go to the Starbucks headquarters (HEE HEE), or there's Seattle Underground, or... lots of stuff. Anyone have any suggestions? 'Cause otherwise we'll be at Lauren's all day going "What do you want to do?" "I don't know, what do YOU want to do?" AND WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT TURNS OUT.
So, yes, doing something during the day, and then to Lauren's mum's house for birthday dinner! YAY. And then watching the EPIC EPICNESS of Supernatural as it comes back from the hiatus together! OMFG YAAAAAY!
Friday: Get up early! SERIOUSLY, GET UP EARLY. Drive up to and through the border and hit Granville Island! (Seeing as how it'll take us around three hours just to get there, with going through border patrol and all, we really don't want to get going too late.) Shop at the GLORIOUS GLORIOUS food market (see! eating! WE WILL BE EATING). Check in time at our lovely hotel is at 3pm, so we'll have a good handful of time to look around.
After check-in, we figured we could start checking out more of the places where they have filmed. I've still got a bit of a list, so we can take our time with that, look around.
Later that night we figured we could go to The Eatery that the awesome
musical_emjay suggested! ALSO, I figured that if anyone in the Seattle/Vancouver area wanted to meet up, this would be the perfect time to do it! If you're interested, let me know. I'm bringing my laptop with me so I'll definitely post the specific details beforehand.
Saturday and Sunday: HMMMmm. With these days we might have to switch things around depending on the weather and whatnot. BUT, either way, one day we'll be going to Grouse Mountain, and one day we'll be driving up to Squamish. At Grouse you can apparently get a Gen Admission ticket and it covers everything from snowshoeing to ice skating. I don't know exactly how much snow there'll be left on the ground to go snowshoeing, but HAHA I might kill myself laughing at all of us going ice skating together. WE ARE DOING IT, OKAY.
ALSO, in Squamish, we really hadn't got to far in deciding what to do besides seeing where they filmed in "Wishful Thinking" (YEAH YEAH SHUT UP), but it's apparently GORGEOUS there (seriously, guys, I looked on Flickr, and there might be tears), and there's a bunch of more outdoor-sy type attractions, including a helicopter tour, DUDE. So yeah, we definitely need to figure that out too.
Monday: Still kind of a blank page too. Definitely want to check out the noodle house Chrissy wanted to visit if we still haven't done it already. Mmm, noodles. We were also thinking about going to the Vancouver Aquarium because they have ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS, and for $25 Canadian we can PLAY WITH SEA OTTERS. ♥_♥ So, yes, I guess Monday can be reserved for all the sets we didn't visit and then whatever else we feel like doing!
Tuesday: I leave SeaTac at 11am. BOO. And then we wait until July, when we'll hopefully be able to see each other again. Sadface!
Like I said, tentative, but at least it's more of a reference than last time we went, haha. If anyone knows of any other awesome fun things to do in the area, let me know! :D
HAHA, I talked with my sister last night and told her we were leaving to go to Vancouver soon and it pretty much went like:
Her: SARAH. DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S FILMING IN VANCOUVER WHEN YOU'LL BE THERE.
Me: Oh my God, if you say Twilight-
HER: TWILIGHT!!!!!!
Me: You know, there's a totally different set we'll be looking for, so-
Her: You HAVE to look for them filming. And tell me if you do. OH MY GOSH, YOU CAN GO TO FORKS. SARAH, GO TO FORKS AND BUY ME A TWILIGHT SHIRT OKAY?
Me: ...I love you.
HAHA aw. The tables have turned! She used to give me the wtf eye whenever I had some serious flail about certain things, so now that she apparently likes Twilight so much, I can tease her about it. (But still, Twilight? Twilight? SIGH.)
Speaking of serious flail, OH MY GOD, SPN PROMO. OH MY GOD. Me rolling around on the floor having seizures does not even COVER IT.

Date: 2009-02-22 12:29 am (UTC)AAANNNDD according to THIS the docks in "Wishful Thinking" are NOT in Squamish but in Port Moody which is above Coquitlam. Sooo if we wanted to see THAT then we have to go there!
AAANNNDD I think our day in Seattle we should take a ferry somewhere. Either to Bainbridge island or Bremerton. LAUREN WHAT DO YOU THINK??! Can you think of anything else we need to do? I just think a ferry would be AWESOME TIMES and we can take lots of pictures!
When I think of more things I will add to this! HAHA!

Date: 2009-02-22 06:11 pm (UTC)Oh! Well. I wasn't even thinking about the docks, haha, I was just thinking about that motel Dean was standing in front of. But... that doesn't make sense that the docks would be somewhere else, because in the background there's all these huge mountains that look like it'd be a part of Squamish. Unless Coquitlam has mountains like that too? I DUNNO.
YAY! Ferry's! I think that sounds like the best idea (especially after the info Lauren gave!), AND YOU KNOW ME AND MY PICTURE TAKING. We'll have to figure something else to do if the weather's crappy, but hopefully it won't be!

$25 is a steal to be with otters.

Date: 2009-02-22 04:12 am (UTC)Aaaaand, that was a really long blab about Twilight. I feel ashamed.
ANYWAY, all of those plans sound good to me! Uhhh, we all know I am completely incapable of being decisive about what to do, so, yeah. I am all for anything on Thursday ... for being a native to Seattle I am pretty horrible at doing touristy things! I am with Chrissy on taking a ferry -- that would be awesome. I've taken the Seattle --> Bremerton ferry before just for the heck of a ferry ride, and it was fun! It totally depends on the weather, though. If it's pissing rain it's kind of pointless, you know? But if it's not, you get a really amazing view of the city and also the mountains behind it! It's great. If we really wanted to go all out, we could take the ferry that's right near my house, and then drive down through Bainbridge Island and then take the ferry back across to Seattle and do Seattle-stuff. It's about a half hour to forty-five minute drive, I think.
Then again -- just parking and then walking onto the Seattle-Bremerton ferry is nice, too, and then you get more time to just wander around on the deck and take pictures, so, who knows.
Another option if we don't really feel like hitting Seattle at all, is driving north to Anacortes (it's only about an hour north of my place) and taking a ferry out to the San Juan Islands. . I haven't done that since I was a pretty small kid, but my family used to do it all the time right around when I started working a lot and could never go. :/ But I know it's gorgeous and stuff, so I dunno? (If it was a month or so later I'd recommend a whale watching tour or something, but i think mid-march is too early! boo)
If we stay in Seattle I'd love to do the underground tour thing, because derrr, I've never been! Oops.
The rest of it all sounds good to me! Chrissy is right, my birthday is on Friday. Going to the Eatery sounds fantastic!!! So, yeah. And I definitely like the idea of Grouse Mountain and Squamish, so yay!
Also YES TO THE AQUARIUM. I really wanted to go last time, but that line was way the hell too long! LOL.
Anyway, this comment got WAAAAY TOO LONG, but still. SO SOON CANNOT WAIT OMG.

Date: 2009-02-22 06:39 pm (UTC)Oh MAN, the ferry's just sound AWESOME. I like it! The Bremerton one sounds cool, but yeah, if we did want to do more Seattle stuff we could take the Bainbridge ferry! I guess it'll really depend on the weather, like you said. I'm pretty sure my manager at work was telling me about the Bremerton one, because it has the gorgeous scenery on the way. But oh man, the San Juan Island too! That looks awesome! And there's a FARMER'S MARKET there and lighthouses and big rocks to climb on! SO AWESOME, AUGH, I DUNNO. Really, as long as we both get to take some amazing pictures with our cameras, I'll be happy! :D
ACK, are you sure? I feel awful that I totally forgot that your birthday was on Friday! Was there somewhere else you wanted to go? I think you said something about it, but I can't remember now! D:
YAYAYAY HOLY CRAP I'M SO EXCIIIITED. JKFLASDKFJALSDJK 17 DAYS!!

Date: 2009-02-22 05:29 pm (UTC)No matter what anyone says about it, I will always have a soft spot for Twilight, not only because I enjoyed the books and the movie, but it's what pushed me across the line to finally try, and try hard, to write something that I'll want to send to get published. I'm at 37,000+ words now in the novel I'm writing, the fandom following Stephenie Meyer motivating me all the way. Not to mention all the money the movie's made, hehe.
That being said, I'm glad your sister finally sees why fangirls exist. I think it's nice, hehe. (Tell your sister I made myself a Twilight T-shirt, OMG I'm such a dork!)

Date: 2009-02-22 07:08 pm (UTC)DUDE. DUDE!! DID YOU TELL ME YOU WERE WRITING? Holy crap! That's awesome, Dor! Can you tell me what it's about at all, or is that a secret? OMG ALSDJFAL;SDJ I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!
And YES! Maybe she can finally understand where I come from, with going to Cons and Vancouver and all this craziness! :D

Date: 2009-02-23 02:15 pm (UTC)It's a young adult fiction, romantic fantasy. Kind of like a cross between Harry Potter, Twilight, Avatar (yes, ideas spark when I watch cartoons with my 8 year old son, hehe), X Men, and I even got some bits of plot inspiration from Transformers and, believe it or not, Supernatural. It's a little hard to explain, but it's about an American teenage girl whose estranged Grandmother mysteriously pays for her tuition to go to a boarding school in England. There, she meets, for lack of a better word, her guardian angel, who is posing as an ordinary student (and who she doesn't find out until later is her guardian angel), and they end up falling in love. That's the romantic part. The fantasy part revolves around the "realm" he comes from and how she is connected to it - and this involves characters with extraordinary powers and abilities, and an evil villainess who is trying to seize power over the "realm".
Did that make any sense whatsoever?

Date: 2009-02-22 08:03 pm (UTC)The Seattle Art Museum underwent a major renovation and it's got a ton more space and new stuff - I would highly recomend checking it out. Also, if you haven't already I'd recommend riding the ducks, which is the tour that is across from the space needle in those jeep things. It's a bit pricy but so totally worth it - 2 hours long and it goes everywhere. Dress warmly though because the jeeps are open air. Also, Argosy does some great cruise tours along the water front in heated boats that serve drinks ;)
I would love to meet up with you one of the days that you're in Seattle for a meal or coffee or a drink or something - let me know when would be good for you :)
HUGS!

Date: 2009-02-24 03:03 am (UTC)And thanks for the all the other recommendations! Now we have so much to choose from, haha.
We're gonna be hopping around so much the day we'll be in Seattle that I don't know exactly what time we'll be wherever, but if we DO settle down somewhere to get a bite I'll send an LJ text to give you (and others) the heads up! :D
