I'm not a fan of needles either - I can't even watch them when they come on tv. But the last year I've had to have a lot of blood draws to monitor a hormonal condition that I have. Here's how I've gotten through it: Yoga breathing -
Breathe in through your nose and let your stomach expand outwards, hold it for a second and then breath out through your nose letting your stomach go back in. Close your eyes and imagine, I don't know, Sam naked or something ;) Trust me, as a fellow needle phobe that can put 3 year olds to shame this works!
As for work - that sucks and I don't blame you for being annoyed!!!
