St. Augustine lighthouse. $9 each to climb to the top and we were like, HA, NO.

This is how I can best describe old Florida - moss-covered, winding-limbed, gigantic oak trees that are perfect for climbing. Add a beach in the background and a crappy 1970's style one story Florida house with a pale pink rock lawn instead of grass and you're set.

LOL TOP MODEL POSE??

Lol my daaaad. <3

These are all from Anastasia State Park, one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever seen.

The finer-grained sand was being blown by the wind, making it look like the desert does I guess! Kinda cool that I could actually capture it in a picture, I didn't think I would.

Cold front moving in. And the lighthouse waaaay tiny and towards the right.

AND THEN I FLIPPED OUT. CASTILLO DEL SAN MARCOS. ESTED IN 1672 WITH COCQUINA SHELLS. AWESOME.

The moat! And my dad, ha.

This was originally used as a storage for guns/gunpowder, but because of the humidity it was too damp. They then turned this tiny room into a prison. Bones were dug out 100 years later.

Tiny way in!

The first church!

We ate at this amaaaazing Mexican restaurant that ended the day off perfectly. Love this town, a lot. EVERYONE COME VISIT ME SO I CAN TAKE YOU HERE.

I was watching the weather this morning (AT 4AM) and there was a weather report that was like, DEAR SWEET JESUS IT'S GOING TO BE SO COLD TONIGHT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. IF YOU DON'T WEAR GLOVES AND A HAT YOU WILL GET FROSTBITE. OR HYPOTHERMIA. OR DIE. THE WIND CHILL IS GOING TO MAKE IT INTO THE 20'S, OKAY, THIS IS FLORIDA, YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND THIS SHIT. And I was just like, oh God. DO YOU THINK IT COULD SNOW?? I think it could snow. The unfortunate thing is that I have to get up tomorrow morning (AT 4AM AGAIN) and go to work and ughhh, I hear that getting out from under the covers when it's that cold is super unfun. I'm not looking forward to it. :( (BUT SNOW WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER.)

Thanks! It's really really nice there. I'm not fond of much of Florida, really, but I really liked it.

I know we're getting record low temperatures tonight, but I've been told there HAS been very very light flurries of snow here in the Orlando area in recent years! I'M CROSSING MY FINGERS VERY HARD.

Cool pictures. Looks like a Florida version of a fort.

You may not want show when you realize how hard it is to get to work through that stuff.

I had never been before, but I LOOOVE history, and obviously one of the first settlements ever in the US was bound to send me head over heels, ha!

I love St. Augustine. It's so beautiful. People forget that Florida is a southern state and when you look at places like that, it's easy to remember. I haven't been there since I was a kid. I want to go back and do the ghost tours.

I didn't even want to leave my apartment yesterday because it was 55 degrees. I do not have winter clothes. This cold snap is INSANE. And I can confirm having spent part of my life in NY (where my dad just got 14 inches of cold, wet stuff dumped on him) that getting up when it's dark out and cold and wet and your bed is warm and dry and comfortable...well, it SUCKS lol.

Hee, well, to me it's very southern in that classic sense - like when I think of old Florida or Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, or something. I'd rather more places be like this. Florida is otherwise a big heap of ugly to me. :\ (Also, SAM AND DEAN SHOULD DO A ST. AUGUSTINE GHOST TOUR, OH YES.)

HAHA I know you don't like the cold but I am LOOOOVING it. I can't wait to wear my scarf and hat out somewhere!

Yeah it's very classic. I don't like a lot of cityscapes like Miami Beach or Orlando or anything. But, I do think certain areas of Florida are gorgeous. It wins against say...Nebraska LOL.

YES! Screw this Hawaii bullshit they talk about all the time. They wouldn't have to talk about Hawaii if they actually shot "Mystery Spot" in Broward County (and how is Broward County a city anyway? It's a big ass area of land that holds a LOT of cities lol) and came down here for some sun. They ruined the opportunity. I say St. Augustine's ghost tours are the way to go.

I don't have one :( All my winter clothes are in Ft. Lauderdale so I'm even more miserable because I have 2 light hoodies...and that's it lol.

I have never been to Englewood! I gotta look it up on googlemaps... OH, down in Sarasota! Sarasota is SO PRETTY, yes! The beaches there are awesome. Have you ever been to the Ringling Museum? V. AWESOME.

HAAA thanks! My dad has had two back surgeries and a knee surgery and I was like, DAD, OH-OH GOD. JUST. BE CAREFUL. But he's all, Naah, srsly, YOU WORRY TOO MUCH. I love him.

OMG! GREAT PICTURES! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

AND DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE, HOW IS IT GOING TO BE THAT COLD IN FLORIDA?!?!?!?!?!?!!? OMG SNOW IN FLORIDA!!!!!!!!?!???!?! THAT WOULD BE SO HARDCORE!

Awesome pictures! I want to visit so badly, I could use some warmer weather. (Well not right now...but in like February when I can no longer feel my feel my hands or feet walking the short distance from my car to buildings.) And if it gets too cold, it cannot snow although I'm sure you have enough moisture for it. What am I saying? I'm not a weatherperson..

St. Augustine Lighthouse = SUPER HAUNTED. Ghost Hunters went there and they caught some stuff, not too creepy but still I consider that proof because I trust no one else.
And I'm not lying but I'm sure you think I'm crazy anyway.

Also, whenever you say 'St. Augustine' I think of a song by one my favorite band:

not a official music video, but the lyrics are amazing. ♥

Thanks! And yeah, I'd definitely suggest St. Augustine as a tourist destination. Really, I wouldn't go much further south in Florida than that, haha. It just starts getting ugly and yuck. :\

HAHA REALLY?? That's awesome. Yeah, they have a TON of "ghost tours" around the town that you can take and I thought that was interesting. Maybe next time I'll have to do that!

Aww, that's such a lovely song and video! I've heard Band of Horses is supposed to be a really good band, but I've never HEARD any of their stuff. I like it!
