Jun. 1st, 2007 01:26 amHEY it's June 1st. SUP HURRICANE SEASON.
Seriously, I can't thank y'all enough for the encouragement that was given. My parents and I randomly went out to eat tonight, and I thought, well, knows as good a time as any, but hell if I couldn't even look them in the eye while explaining it all. It's ridiculous how reserved and shy I am about all this, sigh. I could tell they were a bit thrown, obviously, but my mom recovered enough to say that it sounded really cool and she said I'd really like Utah, hee. My dad just kind of grunted, but agreed with my mom, so, yeah, I dunno. I mean, it's not like I'm asking for their permission; I'm 20 and fully capable to make these decisions on my own, but I'm still under their roof, so, yeah. My mom even said she'd gladly drive me to the airport, heh.
Completely unrelated, 'cause I was just super bored today and looking up apartments in Boone, NC, because I'm hoping to go to grad school at Appalachian State University, I found these apartments and HOMG. The rent?!? SO CHEAP?! I mean, geez, good luck down here trying to find an apartment/dorm that goes for an average of $550 a month. And then when I saw this one I almost cried. Those damn PICTURES. A FIREPLACE OMG. I am serious flaily hands here. I hoping to visit up there this fall, so I'm definitely checking out that place.

handlet, this Sufjan video!! OH. OH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. It's just, him and his banjo, and God, I think if I ever saw him live I'd become a complete mess. SUFJAN. ♥
I cannot stop staring at this. :(((

Date: 2007-06-01 06:48 am (UTC)And second, gosh you sound just like me. I don't emote all over people at all, ever, I keep it all deep down in my gut, and with the exception of my sisters (who are way cool kids with their own LJ secrets) nobody outside of the internet really knows about my online life, and I like it that way. I had an easy way in meeting Dorothy the first time, my parents had let me run off to Germany by myself at 19 (omg I was so young!), I could do anything I freaking wanted, heh. And I have to admit that the first time I drove over to Utah, I didn't mention that the friend I was visiting was an online one and that I'd never actually met her before. Chrissy, however, has no shame, and introduced me to everyone as her "friend from the internet," and there were far less funny looks than I thought there might be. I think that with the technology, it's slowly becoming a much less taboo occurrence.
And if your parents need any reassuring or anything, I'd be more than happy to talk to them on the phone or something and let them know that I'm a perfectly nice girl who has every intention of keeping their daughter safe and showing her a good (and mostly legal, ssh!) time. I can even vouch for Chrissy, having lived on her blow-up mattress for a week, but Char'll have to fend for herself in her claims not to be a stinky old man living in a basement. :P

Date: 2007-06-02 04:31 am (UTC)You guys are seriously too good for me, I mean it. Fortunately enough, my parents are very trusting of me, the friends (online and offline, it seems) that I have and the things that I do, so I can tell that they're reluctant about it, but they also encourage me to travel and have a good time (NOT LIKE THAT!). I still haven't told them ANYTHING what I do, but at least I'm over that hurdle of letting them know about y'all. Goodness, this internet business sure is a funny thing, sometimes.
So, ahem, with that said, 2 MONTHS AND 12 DAYS!!!11 ♥♥♥♥

Psst. Next time you're super bored, see if the Action Kids DVD works in Windows Media Player as per my last post, k? *cheesy grin*

Really though, they look cute. And I'm paying like $545 a month for my half alone, so the prices are great!
