So.

I went into Starbucks today for my first time training session. Informative. Also, kind of overwhelming. Which is stupid, right? It's just coffee, for God's sake. But, again, it's the whole I've-never-worked-with-customer-service-before thing and also the I-know-I-know-I-KNOW-I'm-going-to-make-mistakes-and-I-just-really-don't-want-to-go-through-that-whole-stupid-process... thing. Because I know it's going to awkward and uncomfortable the first couple days, and sometimes I am semi-retarded when it comes to having conversations with people I don't know, and I'm really not trying to stress out over this whole thing, because, dude. COFFEE. It's not like I'm freaking managing people's money like I was at my old job.

I go in tomorrow 2-6, and get to like, make stuff, which is awesome, right? So I am trying to be positive and put on a brave face and try not to let that little niggling voice in the back of my head say, "CHANGE IS SCARY, NO?" and stuff. Because it really isn't. I just need to learn how to live life without the hand guiding me.

PLUS, I GET AN APRON. Lol, apron.

Omg loooook! I always thought that JDM and Jensen looked a lot alike BUT THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS. Omfg Winchesters. ♥

ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTESSSSSS!! Except, I probably won't be able to watch it right at 9:00, 'cause, like, my family will still be around? And since none of them have become, uh, taken with my interests, I have to wait until I get the TV by myself. OH GOD I MAY HAVE A MELTDOWN ALKSJDFLSJDLF;ASJ. I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS.

Yeah, working with people isn't always fun (but making coffee is fun :D especially after you've worked a while and regulars smile when they see you lol). Don't be afraid to clarify! I don't like coffee, but I know people are picky about their coffee and it's better to get a "weren't you listening" look rather than a "this isn't what I ordered!" yell. And yeah, consumers are ridiculous, ridiculous people, but there's amazingly nice ones too :)

Yay, I have an LJ friend that also works at Starbucks! I just started at one here a few weeks ago (this week I started my real non-training shifts). I know what you mean about it being overwhelming. Sometimes it still get overwhelmed, mostly when I have to be by myself, that's nerveracking. I'm horrible at anything social, lol, not just with this job, but trust me, it gets a lot better and easier! And don't worry about mistakes at all, the people can wait, haha. There's so much to learn there, and by the looks/sounds of it, it takes everyone a while to get used to things. So they have to understand.

So do you get a Coffee Passport and Tea Passport too??

Seriously, that makes me feel so much better. I'm sitting here thinking, "How the HECK am I going to remember all this stuff?" But I'm sure it's just a matter of memorization (while under pressure, ack!), though.

Yep, both passports! That's pretty cool. I still have to do the whole taste testing thing, which should be interesting, heh.
