Two and a Half Bros )

It is OCTOBER, FINALLY. I was getting so so so sick of summer. Today was pretty darn nice, what with the high only being around 84, blue skies, the works. Went to the beach and the water temp was perfect, and got a light sunburn. It looooks like the highs are slowly slowly dropping, so hopefully by the end of next week I can actually PRETEND it's fall out. This is a big deal ok I live in the deep south. ;_;

Also, today was my mom's last day of work ever! Unless she gets another job, I guess. First on her agenda for being retired is spending this coming Monday morning at the beach. :D
As everyone who has ta-tas knows, October is breast cancer awareness month. It's important to me for a few reasons. In 2002, when I was in 10th grade, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. They caught it early, but not enough to escape both chemo and radiation. After the diagnoses, she got a short haircut. She never had hair that short before, so it was really cool to see. And then we all went wig shopping together. And the chemo itself... it sucked. A lot. My mom is an incredibly strong person, rarely got sick, was always on her feet doing anything and everything. After the treatments she was in bed for days and couldn't keep anything down. She never let my sister and me see her without her wig on. Once, I was walking by the bathroom that was open a crack and saw her for the first and only time completely bald, and it was such a punch in my gut.

A year and six months after the diagnoses she finally finished the treatments. She kept a journal for my sister and me, you know, just in case. Now she's well past her five year remission and doing just fine. My maternal grandmother had breast cancer twice - once in the 70's, where she had a single mastectomy, and once in the 90's, that was caught early enough that it only needed radiation. My paternal grandmother also just had breast cancer a few years ago, caught really early, so she only needed radiation. So to say my sister and I will be pretty darn alert is a bit of an understatement. So fondle yourself, for the good of your ta-tas.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I deeeefinitely bought tickets today to see Lady Gaga April 16th. Omgggg. I also DID NOT KNOW that Scissor Sisters would be opening for a lot of her concerts coming up, but they don't have their April calendar put up yet, but fjalewjia;ofadj GOD I HOPE THEY OPEN THEN. The fabulous glitter explosion of glee might be too much to handle.

I'm also slowly but surely working my way through the first season of Community. I LOOOOVE IT. The Halloween episode has been my favorite so far, because Pierce tripping balls and Batman!Abed almost made me fall out of the chair. And Troy and Abed can just continue to be awesome forever and ever, please.
