Today is Mom's fourth chemo session. I know the routine now. She'll come home either feeling pretty good or downright crappy. Someone will bring by a dinner and she'll usually not eat anything. She'll sleep. Occasionally, she'll throw up. And, you know, I've realized that it could be so much worse. I mean, if we didn't catch the cancer early on, jeez. I don't even want to think about it. I read this book one time (actually it was right before and during when Mom got diagnosed) about this girl, and she was diagnosed with leukimea... God, that was scary, 'cause it almost hit home. But I can hardly get over the fact that my mom is okay. She's okay. This treatment is 98-99% successful. It's really humbling.

This morning, I couldn't sleep very well for some reason. Mom comes into my room before she goes to work, I suppose, to check on me. I was semi-awake. I saw her head. She wasn't wearing any hair or a turban or anything. Bald, shiny, bumpy, scary. It scared me so bad. But I didn't say anything and nor will I say anything later. She doesn't want to show any of us so she always keeps something on. But I saw. And it makes me want to cry.
