Yesterday? Yesterday I bought a plane ticket to Europe. March 8th - 30th 2011 I'll be seeing Germany, The Netherlands, and hoooopefully Vienna, Austria, if things go right. I am/was slightly terrified, mostly because holy crapoli, I'm committed now. Not that being committed to going to Europe is a bad thing, but I sometimes have momentary panic attacks when faced with the unknown. The only place outside the US I've been is Vancouver, and come on, that's like, not even the ~FULL CANADIAN EFFECT~ ...or so I've been told. I'm just terrified that on the occasions I'm on my own, I'm going to get lost and not read/speak the language and FREAK OUT or try to buy a train ticket to somewhere and end up in Czech Republic, I DON'T KNOW. I'm a panicky person. But I'm also SO STUPIDLY EXCITED I COULD PUKE. This is something I've dreamed of doing for a long time now, and to actually have an email in my account saying yep, it's for real happening, I'm just utterly euphoric.
As I've said, the ever so gracious and lovely
stargazertook is letting me stay with her in Frankfurt. I've got a good list of places I'm going to visit around the city proper, but also a few outer cities that I think can be reached by the S-Bahn/U-Bahn, like Offenbach and Darmstadt and Wiesbaden. I would absolutely love to take a day trip, or something, up to Berlin, but oh man, the train tickets in Germany are weirdly expensive, so I'll just have to see how my money is faring before I can do that.
I'll be flying to Amsterdam to meet up with a friend that I've known since kindergarten and we'll probably be couch surfing omg. No idea yet how long we'll be spending there, but from there I'll take a train waaay up north to Groningen, where my mom's cousin lives on a farm. The town is apparently small and clean and beautiful. I'm just out-of-my-mind excited and apologize in advance for HOW MANY TIMES I will be talking about this, no really. People do these kinds of trips all the time and are probably all, lol big deal, but omg NEW EXPERIENCES and ten and a half hour plane rides and aaaahhh.
In non-Europe related news, you need to read this SPN/Burn Notice crossover fic. It's AMAAAAZING and I was wondering why there was not such a fusion before in my life. Have I mentioned how much I love Burn Notice? I love Burn Notice. I am sad that there are only two episodes left of the season.
