Dec. 1st, 2008 12:36 amUgh. I'm sick. UGH. I haven't been sick in over a year, but still. I feel like I swallowed nails and sound like an 80 year old smoker. I'm sure last week's next to no amount of sleep didn't help matters. I've been popping vitamins and echinacea and advil like crazy and drank roughly 20394 cups of hot tea today, so. Hopefully it just stays in my throat and I don't get the Stuffy Nose of Death. :\
I've been dealing with this for a couple weeks now but um, apparently my manager is promoting me to a shift manager position and I just. :( I really really kind of don't want to. I was all set to leave the company after the new year, but I really don't think that's gonna happen so I'm just gonna, I dunno. Stick it out until the job market gets better or I just go absolutely insane. But, agh. It sounds so horrible to say, but I don't care enough to want to be a shift manager. I don't want to have to care. I will, if I have to, but I don't want to have to. Plus I'm starting classes up again in January and I don't want to have to deal with the increase of hours AND crazy classes right now. So I went up to Starbucks today to talk to my manager, and she said she totally understood, but, being the way that I am, I still feel AWFUL about turning down the position (she had even scheduled the first training session for me tomorrow morning), so I told her to reconsider me in a few months. Man. I don't even know anymore. The increase in pay would be nice and maybe it won't be so bad in a few months. But I just don't WANT to. Sigh.
And OH HEY. Speaking of Starbucks. I know a lot of you are big fans, and just in case you didn't know, if you buy a peppermint mocha twist, gingersnap latte, or espresso truffle (hot, iced, or frappuccino) between now and the beginning of January, Starbucks will send 5 cents for medicine for AIDS for people in Africa. And tomorrow, December 1st, world AIDS day, if you buy ANY bar drink (basically anything made with espresso and steamed milk, not the regular drip coffee), 5 cents will be donated. Seriously, we calculated it out at work, and that's a LOT of freaking money. So srsly, just go get some coffee. We'll be wearing snazzy red aprons and everything. :D
