On the television series Supernatural, the first two seasons depict the hunt for a "yellow eyed demon" who killed their mother (in the series pilot) and their father (in the second season premiere). A veiled reference was made in the episode "In My Time Of Dying" when John Winchester used the sigil of Azazel to summon the demon. In the third season episode, "Sin City", the Yellow Eyed Demon was positively identified by another demon as Azazel.
You know a show is popular when a wiki it references gets updated the same day as the show airs.
Interestingly enough, Azazel means "scapegoat." Which in my mind, leads to all kinds of VERY INTERESTING THINKY THOUGHTS.
