SO, HA, WELL, KEY LARGO. It was good! It was... interesting. Um, well, okay. All it is is just... it's just Florida. You all know how I feel about Florida, right? And to quote my sister, it was like Super Ultra Florida World, but you're pretty much trapped in it. OH GOD, I KNOW HOW THIS SOUNDS. I just don't know how to explain it! It's one of those, you have to live here in order to understand, I guess. I know MANY people would call it beautiful and charming, but to me it's just Florida and meh and everything looks the same everywhere and never being able to get out. Which, seriously, I KNOW that makes me sound so ungrateful and judgey and whatever when pretty much everyone else considers where I live to be a PARADISE, but. I can't, I don't, and I never will.
ANYWAY LOL SARAH IS A DEBBIE DOWNER. It was fun! My sister and I tried not to fight! And kind of bonded!
Loooooong drive. Long drive through BORINGVILLE. I think we skirted along the edge of the Everglades?
HOW CUTE IS OUR ROOM THOUGH, RITE.
Really pretty tree leading out to the private beach behind the motel. It kind of looks like a Jacaranda, except Jacarandas are usually yellow or purple. HMM.
Chilling in the sweet hammock we found.
Yep. Lol I'm white.
The private beach was REALLY pretty. Though it really wasn't a beach. Kind of just a jetty and sharp rocks everywhere, haha.
Pretty!
The entrance to John Pennekamp State Park. Where the beaches are not really beaches and we become a little disgruntled and hooooooly crap so freaking hot it's almost unbearable.
Inside the Park.
My sister's glasses she bought from the dollar bin. AM I SCENE YET.
Our snorkeling boat.
Flipper!
Waiting to board.
Out on the boat to go snorkeling!
Kind of reminded me of the ferry ride out to Bremerton in Seattle, SIGH!
You can kinda see the lighter blue/teal water color here.
This one's better, closer to the reef.
Detoured through Card Sound. This was a pretty cool sight coming down.
My sister getting all arty farty with her camera.
Haha I grabbed the camera out of her hand and took this picture while driving 60 down the highway. Apparently it's rat/panther/cougar/werewolf crossing the next couple miles.
Mosquito-infested swamp pits! Yay.
HAHAH BEEEST. This was pretty much the last building before you get off the main road to travel the tiny road to the Keys.
SO, the snorkeling. I've never done it before, and unfortunately the water was REALLY choppy because it was so windy. When we finally got in the water, I didn't have my hair done up right so my mask kept slipping and because of the waves I kept swallowing sea water (which really really makes you want to puke). At one point I guess I was getting so frantic to get my mask back on and not get hit by waves that my sister made me get out and get my shit together. After that, it was fine. We saw the Christ of the Deep (which apparently is pretty rare, as someone was telling me that they don't take many people out to the dry rocks where it's located!) and many fishies and really cool coral. Some people saw sea turtles and squid! Alas, I did not. But it was still really cool. I'd love to do it again but get an underwater case for my camera so I can take pictures! That'd be awesome. Also, when I got back on the boat, I was SO CLOSE to getting sea sick, thanks to all the salt water I swallowed and the boat rocking like crazy. But I didn't! Hooray for not being a complete pansy.
So, yes. I'm not unhappy that I went; I'm GLAD I did, I'm glad I finally ventured that far south and saw what I wanted to see. But now that it's off my list, I don't really feel the need to go back. What I REALLY want to do is go back to St. Augustine (AAAUGHH SO PRETTY), Fernandina beach (which I hear is BEAUTIFUL and amazing), and the northern gulf coast of Florida, like around Pensacola. Man, if only I could get around this being so poor thing. Ha.
So our local library does this REALLY CRAZY THING where it'll ship you books if you're on the waiting list! So I did that! And they arrived today! All three of them! Oh man, so excited. I think I'm gonna read The Graveyard Book by Gaiman first.
Also, Virgil is still really really cute. He's taken to sneak-attack licking Percy, with Percy going, "WHAT?! WHAT. WHAT ARE YOU... okay, that's kind of nice... NO NO, GET AWAY." I will have to get pictures omg.
Auughaglsda;k DO NOT WANT opening the next two days. AUGH.

WHAT IS IT about the Beach Boys that makes their songs get stuck in my head FOREVER. HAHA.

Just imagine Jared and Jensen in swim trunks, with surf boards...running into the ocean and the waves "accidentally" ripping off said swim trunks.
JARED AND JENSEN ARE SO HIP, I REALLY DIG THOSE WASHBOARD ABS THEY HAVE
AND SEEING THEM AS RIPPED SURFERS, MAKES ME REALLY WISH I WAS THE MEAT TO THEIR SANDWICH
I AM FUCKING UP THIS SONG...

I LOVE SNORKELING. It sucks that you didn't have the most rocking experience though. I've snorkeled a lot down in the Keys and it's always wonderful, especially out in the Gulf. You could always try a disposable underwater camera. They take really great pictures and you don't have to buy an expensive case for your camera and install it - because you could botch the casing just a little bit and waterlog your camera.

I know! I'm sad it wasn't the best, but I'm definitely willing to do it again! I was thinking about getting a disposable underwater camera but my sister was like NAH, DON'T and I was like, ...okay. I was wondering if they took good pictures. I'll definitely pick one up next time.

EEEE I will have to vid next time they are being ADORABLE. They kinda go through these phases of completely avoiding each other, meeting each other in the hallway and licking each other, and running around the apartment like their asses are on fire. WHATEVS, CATS.
