To my dearest friends who happen to be New Yorkers:

HI! Can I come up and visit you? I think it might be good times.

EEEEE! Okay, so, firstly. What dates are best for you? I know I had said previously that I'd like to do it in May, if possible, but, okay, I have this newish job, right? And even though my boss is SUUUPER nice and I am DEFINITELY not an essential component to the workplace, I still feel kinda bad about taking time off so close together, as I just got back from having two days off. But do you think that's okay? The end of March and the end of May aren't TOO close together, yes? UGH, I am such a crazy person, I worry myself sick over stuff like this. I was kiiiinda thinking the last weekend in May, which is Memorial Day weekend, which would be good because 1) yay maybe an extra day off for some people! but bad because 1) it's Memorial Day weekend, which means tons of other people traveling and whatnot too, and 2) some of you might actually have other plans in place this weekend, which only just popped into my head not long ago because I'm not self-centered at ALL, no way.

The only other reason that weekend makes me kinda wishy-washy is that on my work calendar, my boss is scheduled to be out of town May 27th and 28th too, and I was all, OH, PERFECT! 'cause it would make me feel less bad about taking time off, but then that would mean my one other coworker would be all alone to cover things, and I think she pretty much dislikes me already, and taking off then too might make her resent me more. BUT MAYBE SHE'D LIKE ME OUT OF THE OFFICE? Omg idk idk.

HAHA I LOVE HOW I MAKE IT ALL ABOUT ME. Oh my God I'm so sorry. You guys should probably just tell me what dates are good and I'll just suck it up and get on with it, ahaha. First week of June? Second week? Does it start to get pretty hot in June?

And how many days? I've been told that you can get a pretty good trip of NYC in four or five days. I'm kinda leaning towards five 'cause, well, duh. I figured like, a Thursday through Monday because, you know, weekend, and since it's a WONDERFULLY short flight from here to there it could be an early flight Thursday and a late one Monday (or even catch a late flight after work on Wednesday!) BUT, obviously, if that's not ideal, or if you've got something better in mind, let me knooow!

And, of course, suggestions of things to do? You guys are tooootally the experts, having lived there FOREVER, or something, so I thought I'd mostly leave that up to you, ha. I am up for ANYTHING, honestly, whether super stupidly touristy or out of the way.

So, um, yes! I think that's it. And if there's a couch to crash on, that'd be great too. :> :DDD Unless you have some REALLY great advice for how to ask your boss for days off, no, really, seriously, because it scares me to death to do it, boooo.

I GOT A NEW PHOOOONE ON FRIDAY! It's really super duper. I was NOT looking forward to the touch screen, but it's not as bad as I thought. And it has internets and GPS and new fangled-ness! The best part is that the data plan/3G thingy is only $10 a month. So they say, I guess; we'll see if any crazy charges have been added to the bill after the first couple months. BUT YAY I LOVE IT.

Also, I finished The Hunger Games and I promised [livejournal.com profile] wendy on the bus to LAX that I'd tell her when I did, SO I AM. :D Omg it was AMAZING. It's one of those books when you turn the last page and you're like FFFFFUUUUU but then you realize there's a SEQUEL and one AFTER THAT and it makes you so so happy inside. The whole way through is so TENSE, and I cannot believe how attached to the characters I am now. Thank God I'm only fourth on the hold list for the next one at the library.

I hope liking My Morning Jacket is not douchebag-y, because their song "Touch Me I'm Going to Scream part 2" is SEWWWW amazing. It reminds me of the Alan Parson's Project, which is weird, don't ask.

YAY YAY!! I'm so glad you liked it! It's such a good book. I can't WAIT for the third one to come out this summer!!

You might also check out Maze Runner, which is similar but very different too. Same sorta vibe though. Maybe just see if it peaks your interest. *grin*

Girl, you have my couch...OR MY FUTON. That's right, two places to sleep for the price of one. As you know, I'm not in Manhattan proper but it seriously takes 15 minutes to get to the (low) upper east side of Manhattan and less than 30 minutes to midtown by subway. I <3 my commute.

4-5 days is ideal. You do have to pick a few things you want to see because there are so many things to do! I love dorking out at museums and getting lost at Central Park is a must but seriously, pick a few things because otherwise I will lazily suggest marathoning things and ordering take-out.

Memorial weekend is iffy for me personally since I tend to visit my family on long weekends.

The summer weather is gearing up to be hot (ugh) since it's going to be MID-EIGHTIES on Wednesday. Grossssss. June miiiight be okay however it rained like 22 days out of 30 last year in June, so heh, you might need an umbrella but NY weather is very WTF.

Tell me the things you like to see and the food you like to eat, girl! The best part of NY is experiencing the neighborhoods and noshing on some delicious foods.

So, I have nothing to offer since I live 1.5 hours outside of NYC? But keep me in the loop re:when you're coming so I can make plans to participate in FUNTIEMS. At least one day or another. The only time this summer I know I won't be here is July 17-24...everything else is up in the air, and possibly won't happen at all. Regardless: it will be awesome to see you, omg.

Firstly, I will pretty much reiterate what Reg & Rina have said in that HAI COME LIVE ON OUR FUTON/COUCH, we are in Astoria, which is a quick subway trip into Manhattan and we are right near some awesome places in Queens like the Bohemian Beer Garden, which is fun to do as the weather turns nice (which it has! I took the long way home tonight and it was a gorgeous 75 degrees out and I felt fine sans jacket). And we will find/make awesome things to eat because NYC is a foodie dream. :D

Memorial Day weekend tends to mean that there are extra tourists, and like Reg said, she might not be around, so keep that in mind as you're planning? (I mean, there's always lots of tourists, and as long as you are patient, they eventually move along, so they don't bother me that much unless I'm trying to walk in the Times Square/Herald Square area). Or perhaps plan to come the days before, and leave on that Saturday or something, so you have extra recovery time once you get back home? Or hey, we can just take the main busy day of the holiday to stay in and watch things and have a Wincon-esque couch party/fangirl commune.

I also think Reg has the right idea, make a list of things you want to see/do and we can plan accordingly, like hitting up certain areas/neighborhoods on certain days. I personally am a big museum dork and will spend hours in the Museum of Natural History taking pictures of Dinosaurs or at the Met just chilling in the sculpture garden. And depending on when you come, we can possibly arrange a Shakespeare in the Park day? I know a bit of my way around the Public theater and other venues, and I'm also usually around to navigate in case you're off somewhere exploring and get lost.

Lastly, liking MMJ is SO NOT DOUCHEY AT ALL!! I am also happy to foist more of their music upon you, I can't stop listening to "Remnants" and they do AMAZO covers like Erykah Badu's "Tyrone". :D :D

Congrats on the phone!

I have to get caught up on my reading. I have 5 books sitting on my desk due back next month.
